Action Shots” includes 20 stills from the movie, while “Spirit Stuff” lets you install a BIO screensaver. I don't think people expected as rich a DVD as we did for "Bring it On" and we really tried to get together as much stuff as we could. Having watched it countless times since then including a re-purchase on Blu-Ray recently, I'm concluding that it was aimed at a mass teen audience but also done a little tongue in cheek. As luck would have it, an international conference is taking place in the same hotel and the Russian delegate (one of Marlo’s former husbands) is threatening to derail the negotiations unless he can have one more fling with his ex. The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego has got spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row.

Lead by their captain Torrance Shipman (Kirsten Dunst), the Toros make it back to the national championships, and go head to head with the Clovers to see who really is the best darn cheerleaders in the country. The DVD offers excellent picture and sound plus a solid complement of supplements headlined by an absolutely splendid audio commentary.

We sat down and looked at that character and said that we want to make this character really watchable, but we don't want it to become knowingly militant.

sex Sex references occur throughout, including sexualised dance moves and song lyrics, and verbal sex references and innuendo. You'll talk to the studio who'll say they have trouble with this scene or this line, and then when you ask really direct questions like will this help- they can't answer that. The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego has got spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that’s sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. This is also one of those movies where social media and the internet in general are far more powerful than I've ever seen in the real world- any little thing that happens gets shared around the world instantly, and there's even an online "Cheer Goddess" (Vivica A. It suffers from some of the clichés of all teen flicks, but through its direction and acting it manages to seem spunky and energetic enough to make me forgive those flaws. It’s also fun to hear Reed’s explanations for the omissions, so the piece makes for interesting viewing.

All in all, I really enjoyed this commentary; it was an almost-shockingly compelling affair and it stands as one of the best tracks I’ve heard recently. To a majority of us who have never cheerleaded, it's easy to say that it's not anything to get worked up about, but I look at it like if you said that to a football player in a Texas high school, you'd probably be shot on sight. A couple of weeks before we started shooting I stopped by the rehearsal places at the gym, and the first half of the day were these amazing dance choreographies and in the second half of the day were the gymnastic and cheerleading moves being rehearsed.I think it's ridiculous that the R rating can encompass something like "Reservoir Dogs" and "Natural Born Killers" that are pretty violent, and it can include "Billy Elliot". I tried to be really aggressive with Universal Home Video because I wanted to personally supervise the transfer of the movie along with my DP. The guys from Warrant are probably going to show up at my house and kick my ass for saying how much. How involved were you in deciding what went on the DVD and how did you make the decision as to what to put on?
