About this deal

I was at the point of going upmarket to try to get better belts until I realised I needed the floor space more than I needed the pedestal.

The Bosch PBD40 is half the size of that monster - but it has a plunge depth of 90mm - AND it changes speed by turning a knob, as simple as turning up the volume on a radio. The laser cross is pretty accurate, and accurate enough for quickly locating where to put the wood or center punched metal and then make fine adjustments to make sure the bit goes in the right place. They say it's great for drilling accurately and repeatedly, it' s very simple to install, and the speed control is really easy to use. The PBD 40 bench drill is especially accurate and very easy to use thanks to its technical features, with a 710 watt universal motor replacing the classical belt drive found in conventional bench drills.

I'm not entirely sure why Bosch didn't supply it with a keyed Chuck in the first place but there you go. ISC240 | OF1010R | AGC18 | TPC18/4 | TID18 | OSC18 | RTSC400 | CTL MIDI I | SYSROCK BR10 | SYSLITE KAL II | SV-SYS D14 | DSC-AG125FH | CDD9. I had initially constructed a wooden cutting fence table, secured to the Bosch by bolts through the baseplate grooves designed for its own fence.

Usable for so many things, and I've also seen many tricks on youtube for using this in ways it wasn't intended, although i guess some of them may be unsafe to do. Quiet enough to have a conversation or listen to music (obviously not recommended for safety reasons, you should be paying attention to your tool and material), and likely won't disturb other people. I haven't had a problem with insufficient torque so long as feed rate, drill speed are sharpness are appropriate for the work and one keeps in mind the limitations of a smaller light weight DP and adjusts accordingly. I'm planning some very precise drilling in the future (eg on a PCB) and I'm sure I'll find this annoying.Q : I'm looking for a compact pillar drill that is powerful enough to easily drill into hardwood (primarily oak) with a Forstner 38mm drill bit. To meet the cancellation deadline you should send your notice to cancel before the 30 day ‘cooling off’ period has expired. The depth guage is great, the electronic speed control works well, the clamp is useful and the size, reach, depth and chuck size all adequate. It was a 30second job and now the drill bits don't slip and I can get a decent amount of grip on anything I put in the Chuck. Taking the machine out of its box, I noticed that it felt quite weighty - usually a good sign of a well engineered product.

The built in work light is more than adequate and the laser guide crosshairs system eliminates guesswork. The drill provides excellent visibility with a laser crosswire that allows the workpiece to be precisely positioned before drilling and an LED worklight that keeps the work area well illuminated and free from shadows. This is probably the most annoying issue because it makes repositioning the workpiece more fiddly and time consuming than is necessary.

The following panel allows you to customize your consent preferences for any tracking technology used to help us achieve the features and activities described below. It also has a very good emergency stop button, where you can just hit the on/off button to turn off. The laser cross-hairs are spot on and much more useful than you would think, and it works on 3mm mild steel. As well as the workpiece clamp shown at the bottom of the column it has a moveable aluminium fence that slots into grooves in the machined aluminium base. The clamp is also a very handy feature but if too much pressure is applied this also pushes the pillar back and can put the bit slightly out of square. Packed with helpful features that will make your life easier while you work on your DIY or professional projects. A : Hi Tom, I'm not sure what application you have in mind, but the Bosch PBD 40 can't be used for milling in the usual sense of the word as it is only designed to go up or down on the vertical axis.
