About this deal

But a slim CP filter does not give us clear sailing - the filter rings on this lens rotate when focusing. It doesn't cost you anything extra when you use these links, but it does support the site, helping keep ePHOTOzine free to use, thank you. These aberrations are most-easily seen at the longer end of the focal length range and greatly resolve by stopping down one stop. If your wallet is light or you need to keep your DSLR light, this lens might be a good choice for you.

I used it in Europe and Corsica and found the images to be good, but I also was using a 24-105 L at the same time and the images from it were always better, obviously.

The more circular the aperture, the more circular the out-of-focus details in the image (bokeh) will be.

I've come to realize I use CPL and grad filters all the time and the sigma allows use of these with its non-rotating front element, and this makes a HUGE difference for me in terms of getting the pictures I like to take. At wide apertures, this lens does a nice job at avoiding flare effects even with the sun in the corner of the frame. I think if you do not know you will need the 17-55IS or 24-105L with EF-S10-22 combo , then you wont' need any of them and so get this 18-55IS instead. At introduction, it was offered as a kit lens on both the 700D [4] and 100D; [5] it has since become one of two alternative kit lenses for the 70D. The 15-55mm lens usually comes as part of the kit when you purchase a camera, and is an inexpensive, non-specialised lens.Additionally my specimen shows a slight glowing effect around bright spots in the image at the tele end of the lens. It is inexpensive, lightweight, and highly versatile, making it an essential piece of gear for all photographers, whether pro or just getting started.
