About this deal

Not to be deterred adult Alasdair Beckett-King who may never have solved a murder, chose the next best thing. There's been a mysterious death at Leerie Lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: a sure sign that something is Highly Suspicious.

Like all perfect grandparents, he is quietly proud of Bonnie and loves secretly spoiling her and indulging her hobbies – even when Mum really doesn’t want him to. Together they'll interview some dodgy witnesses, scour the scene for clues and – above all – hope no one notices that Bonnie and Montgomery are never in the same room at the same time.It might not always be a chuckle a line but the comedy is definitely here, including some family-friendly observational stuff using Bonnie's sense of logic that could easily make this a book for the whole family to share.

This career choice met with the same response as had the suggestion of being a stand-up comedian - a deep sigh. Though there is a little room for more originality and surprises in further outings for Montgomery Bonbon, young readers are sure to enjoy the twists and turns – and laughs – of this playful introduction to crime fiction. There's been a mysterious death at the lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: something is Highly Suspicious. With the assistance of her accomplice/grandpa and despite a long-suffering rivalry with the local police inspector, she whittles down the suspects and at one point engages in a battle of wits with a parrot. Murder at the Museum delivers a good deal of laughs and is a love letter to classic Christie novels that will delight any parents reading the book to their children. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Bonnie gets to do it all, and really well - assisting the bumbling police with the case of a missing museum piece and the murder of its guard.

Montgomery Bon Bon is going to become an iconic name in middle grade mystery if Beckett-King continues this series and let’s her (sorry I mean him) get their hands on more crimes to solve. Meet Montgomery Bonbon (aka Bonnie Montgomery) the world’s greatest ten-year-old secret super sleuth!

This is the story of Bonnie Montgomery: a ten year old girl who puts on a false moustache and becomes Montgomery Bonbon, the great detective. This middle-grade novel will keep the reader entertained with its exciting plot, twists, and plenty of humour to give them the giggles throughout. Claire Powell’s illustrations give readers a peek at Bonbon’s case notes and bring the wonderful characters to life. Bonnie and her Grampa learn that Oliver Munday, a museum warden, is dead and a valuable carved stone eagle is missing. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling.
