About this deal

Steele, I am a fan, you won me over with this one, so I'm definitely diving in to read more of the series. After a while I started to skip page after page, there wasn’t even really a storyline outside of the spicy scenes, so what was there to read? Father and son getting it on with same woman - and maintaining eye contact at different points while doing it!

I like that she was strong day to day but found she has a submissive side and Daddy JJ was the perfect partner for it. If you’re going to pluck someone from their life you would have done your due diligence and known everything about them. I have this burning need to show myself that justice can win in the end, and I truly believe I'm the one who can make it happen.

Craig scoffs at our surroundings like he’s unimpressed before he leads the way, and for the first time tonight, I’m actually glad he’s with me. But while JJ is the bridge between the Seven and the Sovrano’s Lena definitely uses unusual means to be a bridge between father and son…wowsers I mean that one particular scene well damn! There is one encounter though that did cross a line for me but that was to do with the people involved and not the scene itself which if it had involved any other characters I would’ve found it HAF instead of just NO! I can’t throw Craig’s words back in his face and tell him exactly what I think of his outdated and downright sexist opinions.

Firstly a large portion of this feels like a continuation of her other books, which I have not read, so almost immediately you are confused as to who is the mafia and who is not and their business dealings. What made me stop was her interuption of the presentation with the woman her and JJ worked on (now like the 3rd professional interruption she's made? But now his associates are settling down and moving to more legal dealings well maybe it’s time for a different perspective. What is my business, though, is the young man in a dark suit who approaches the table and shakes hands with everyone seated there. As I breeze past the bouncer without so much as a second look, I am swiftly welcomed inside, and a nagging thought arises. He disinherited his daughter after she decided she didn't want to follow the path her dad laid out for her and till this point in the book SHE IS ABSENT. She tries to avoid it but it’s difficult because not only are they living together but also she now works for him! If you've read Steele's Big Bad Billionare Series (The Seven) or her Mafia: Arranged Marriage Series (The Sovrano Brothers) you will be familiar with the H in ths story, JJ Kane.

However, when I decide to investigate one of their nightclubs and cross paths with Luca Santoro, the youngest son of Rocco, I stumble upon more than I bargained for.

But the taboo boyfriend's dad trope in this is so well written, which includes age gap/alpha A-hole tropes. I’m sure it was supposed to ease me into my role as a detective, pairing me with a ten-year veteran such as Craig Graham when I joined the unit six months ago.
