This is a fantastic series for lovers of fantasy books for kids, and we think any fan of the Greenwild Series, Train to Impossible Places Adventures books, Artemis Fowl books and Nevermoor books will love this. It is the story of twelve-year-old twins, Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm, who are left alone when their father embarks on a great sky-ship expedition across the continents to South Polaris. If you like exciting, new adventures that are above all else fun—then Brightstorm is your kind of read. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.Highlights for me were the thought-wolves, the wonderful map, and the fact that there are a set of twins at the centre of it all. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! But overall, it's a lovely warm-hearted book (despite all the snow and ice) with engaging and interesting characters, a strong writing voice, and the possible promise of more Brightstorm stories to come?

While the book is intended more for the middle grades, but that doesn't stop it from having an amazing plot and fun characters. Through Eduora’s actions we witness the extraordinary lengths people will go to when they become blinded by the rewards and riches on offer.

Arthur is the slightly more outgoing and adventurous one, whereas Maudie is more on the scholarly side of things. The only things that dropped this book down a star for me was that I'd hoped to see more of the crew (especially the botanist and the meteorologist! Though instead of experience, the twins have each other—which is sure to be the greatest benefit of all. But their scheming, ambitious aunt, Eudora Vane, is still dedicated to destroying the Brightstorm family name, and the further north the Aurora travels, the more long-buried secrets are revealed.
