Description

I liked the perspective that this book is written in and it really has something for all body types too; explaining that different body types have different strengths and weaknesses and that weaknesses are an area that should be trained with a higher level of commitment because that is what really promotes improvement. In conclusion, it is a very helpful book that I feel has improved my climbing significantly over the last few months. As would be expected from a dedicated boulderer and co-founder of 'Beastmaker' the authors focus is as the sub-title says 'a fingers-first approach to becoming a better climber' the book however offers much more than that with chapters on tactics, flexibility and core amongst other things. Beastmaking is a book written by a life-long climber who became one of the leading minds on strength training in the sport. He has published more than a dozen military action-adventure novels, including the six-book series Force Recon.

Ned Feehally is one of the World's top climbers and co-founder of Beastmaker which manufactures wooden fingerboards and climbing training apparatus. These work great for pulling straight down as positive edges, but as a side pull or an undercut the thumb catch comes into its own, making a crimpy pinch.

At the end of the book, there are interviews with Alex Puccio, Adam Ondra, Jerry Moffat, Melissa Le Nevé, Tomoa Narasaki, Alex Megos, Alex Honnold, and Coxsey. An informative , concrete book , that gives you real example of trainning , with a little bit of humor and real practical tips.Instead, keep your eyes on the bigger picture - all this hard training will surely pay off in the long run. The writing feels like talking to a knowledgeable friend, informative and informal in the perfece balance. Miller went on to win three Lead National Championship titles and placed seventh in two Lead World Cups. Ned Feehaly, the author, is one of the top climbers in the world and provides amazing insight into the essentials on how one can become better at climbing. The final bit is about fine hand-beauty implements like sandpaper, razors, and knives, guaranteed to keep your skin smooth as a baby's bottom!

Ho apprezzato molto il fatto che l'autore non sponsorizzi il Bestmaker, che lui produce, ma propone esercizi da poter eseguire su qualsiasi pannello o trave. The book starts with a brief introduction, where Ned clearly explains that his aim was not to go deep into scientific details of training but rather to present a synthesis of his 20+ years of climbing experience. It is not a hardcore training manual, and as others have pointed out, if you want that, look elsewhere. Thanks to StrengthClimbing, I finally reached the next level in a fast, progressive, and safe way with a personalized program! This book is easy to pick up and read, take a look at some of the sample pages and see for yourself. Among his many notable ascents, we can find, for example, The Big Island 8C in Font, a flash ascent of Trust Issues 8B+ in Rocklands, and multiple challenging highballs [1]. There are insights from some of the world’s top climbers, including Alex Honnold, Shauna Coxsey, Adam Ondra, Alex Puccio and Tomoa Narasaki.
