No idea what I’m going to do with it unless I get some Custodes or start collecting Stormcast Eternals perhaps. Today I share my Azyrite Ruins from the original Warcry starter set, which are also included in the new Catacombs box. Then it was a simple case to apply the wash to all the stonework on the ruins and let it dry, as always keeping an eye out for any pooling. It is our mission to bring you the latest from the miniature wargaming scene, from narrative missions, hobby how-to tutorials, battle reports, unboxings and reviews, retro flashbacks, news, rumors, and more. Really pleased with how these turned out, they definitely look better in an off white colour than the usual grey that everyone uses for ruins.

Hope you like my approach of painting these Azyrite Ruins, don’t forget to check out Garfy’s tutorial, who painted his ruins closer to the pale green seen on the box art. A few months back white dwarf ran an article about painting the Azyrite ruins in different schemes to represent different realms.First of all, I should probably get my Blightkings painted so that I have some Age of Sigmar miniatures to go with my Age of Sigmar terrain. However, these are some really nice models so I didn’t want to practice my terrible greenstuff sculpting skills on them. For the wood areas I wanted to keep it simple and let all that wonderful detail in the sculpt do the work for me. Once the wash was dry, I then drybrushed the stonework with a pure white to bring out the raised areas.

All photographs, images and paint-work that are posted are originals by the author unless indicated otherwise. I chose a very effective approach for painting the stonework: I sprayed everything black, then added a zenithal highlight, not with an airbrush, but dark grey spray from Vallejo.
