The Now albums are remarkably more proficient at declaring what music is in the present, rather than attempting to determine what music will be in the future. Due to licensing issues, these re-compiled versions often use alternative mixes such as album versions. Here’s a question I’ve been waiting all day to ask: Is Ally, Lady Gaga’s character from A Star Is Born, music? So it's Keane and Embrace that fly the flag for anything non-pop, and (although I like them) they're not exactly cutting edge, are they? Due to the higher cost of pressing vinyl and the limited time they are available, they are at least three times more expensive than their compact disc counterparts.

As far as I can tell, Now is FAR BETTER at selecting the best pop songs, and when they miss on the back half of the albums, they really miss. and may feature the best closing run of any Now album: Ben Harper’s “Steal My Kisses” to Smash Mouth’s “Then the Morning Comes” to Train’s “Meet Virginia” to Macy Gray’s “I Try” to Hanson’s “This Time Around” to the closing track, Blink-182’s “All the Small Things. From 2003, and until 2010, there was one special edition released each year, covering a decade (80s, 90s and 00s), or a cross section of big hits celebrating the Now series ( Now Decades, Now Years, Now Dance) - however, from 2011, they became much more frequent, and in 2017, there were fifteen different titles released.

Why do they have to produce one disc worth of tripe and then little more than a few weeks later another disc full of tripe appears in the hands of these teeny-bopping pratts(! Just to give you an idea of how the music gods (read: Now) judged Taylor Swift: “Blank Space” is the first time she ever headlined a Now album, and only the second time she landed on the lauded first half of a Now album (“I Knew You Were Trouble” on Now 46 was the first).

In our universe, meanwhile, I’d expect “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to land on, like, Now 69. My picks from the omissions: Ashlee Simpson, V, The Corrs, Delta Goodrem, Marilyn Manson, Brandy, Kristian Leontiou, Goldie Lookin' Chain and The Zutons. He is resoundingly the most popular musician of his generation—the crazy thing is that he doesn’t actually make music though. and The Chainsmokers’ pleading “Don’t Let Me Down” leading the way, this entry in the NOW series spotlights massive hits from pop’s biggest names.Half a point was awarded for every week a song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100; five points were awarded for every Grammy nomination a song earned, while 10 points were awarded for a Grammy win; lastly, one point was awarded for every MTV Video Music Award nomination, while two points were awarded for every VMA win.
