If still flashing and engine cold then either wiring (unusual, not unknown) or temp sensor faulty (black sensor I believe) again you should be able to disconnect and should stop. Do read the thread on Mk6 Golf and EGR issues over on Moneysavingexpert for tips on how to negotiate. Also, though requiring a BIT more elbow grease on your part, I’ve seen guys take the edge of a leather belt and rub the flashing off. He says it's possible that either a bulb has burned out, or the brake light pedal switch has gone bad. anyway, raking through my spares in the back of the van I found several dozen single filament indicator/reverse lamp bulb but only two stop, brake lamp bulbs with the double filament.

To my understanding, the flashing glow plug is an engine management warning, which can indicate a whole range of things. The rear brake/stop lights were both 'blown' and the glass bulb had turned a white, marbled effect that I have never seen before. The switch is used to tell the ECU when the gear selector is in park - if it gets stuck everything will still work but a code will be logged and PRNDS will flash. The car will start shutting down systems in an event to conserve the battery and most of those are critical ones. The brake light switch is like two in one, part does the lights and part does the ecu so it could be that. It would make sense to get a fault code read done and if it is an over-boost situation, have the turbo rebuilt before it goes pop. After these were cleared, fault 02413 - Switch for selector Lever Position P Lock (F319) 008 - implausible signal - intermittent came up. Perfect for golfing enthusiasts or amateurs who struggle to finish their 18 holes within daylight hours!

The bit around the gear stick with the leather on and the plastic bit with the gears on that lights up.Assuming the flashing’s not too extreme, the combination of heat and friction all but melts the extra plastic.

Not sure if that can be due to winter fuel, the extreme cold, or whatever's causing the GPL to flash. The ball took a while to get it working - you have to hit it hard to get it to glow red, but when it does it is fab. My car has a Malone stage II tune with no DPF, EGR, or ASV installed so the computer can't be throwing any codes for that. Thanks for the responses - in laymans terms (to a heating engineer with no clue about motor mechanics) what does a turbo overboost translate as? As the sending unit sends resistance to the gauge from zero to infinity (ok not infinite) the wire heats or cools bending the metal spring that the needle is attached to.I would (and have) recommend your site to others I was quite satisfied with the quality of the information received, the professional with whom I interacted, and the quick response time.
