About this deal

On the other hand, the surface is so sensible, I already have micro thin hairline cracks on the spines of the first inner slip case thingies. On side 2, it was stamped at a more extreme angle, causing a "dent" in the original master lacquer, and is even less recognizable. The vibrant potency reveals itself openly on an analogue set that provides full-range reproduction of an ensemble that also includes pianist Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Art Blakey. Without question, the discreet interpretations of the Johnny Mercer and Cole Porter songs, respectively, found on Somethin’ Else have long been considered part of jazz’s alluring mystique. Alison’s Uncle” is the only song on this release that did not strike a chord with me [and that was because of the brassy drumming], but that’s just my taste .

Adderley begins his solo from deep inside a noodlebowl of notes, and then changes course, carving out ideas that are much more disciplined. Adderley and Davis would also play together on the 1958 Columbia Records release Milestones, as well as the 1959 landmark Kind of Blue, one of the most universally acclaimed jazz albums. MoFi SuperVinyl provides the closest approximation of what the label’s engineers hear in the mastering lab. As veteran critic Bob Blumenthal observed writing about the album four decades after its release, “The instant rapport achieved by the quintet is thus the product of much shared and common history, though the tensile strength that they create throughout created a totally unique feeling that can be attributed to the sensitive musicianship of all concerned, including the supposedly hard bopping leader and drummer. With UD1S, every aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the best-sounding vinyl album available today.Cannonball came from a very technical musical background, not only playing but teaching music, which is no doubt one of the reasons his particular form of Jazz both connects and resonates so well.

Somethin' Else is an album by American jazz saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, recorded on March 9, 1958 and released on Blue Note in August later that year—his only album for the label. The iconic composer/trumpeter steps into the role of sideman on the 1958 set, one of just a handful of times he’d make such a move after the calendar passed the mid-1950s. The composition is actually Hank Jones' "Bangoon", and first appeared on Gigi Gryce's 1957 Jubilee Records album Jazz Lab, with Jones playing piano. Developed by NEOTECH and RTI, MoFi SuperVinyl is the most exacting-to-specification vinyl compound ever devised. The twelve-bar blues "One for Daddy-O" was written by Adderley's brother Nat for Chicago radio DJ Holmes "Daddy-O" Daylie.
