The feminine shade and the slight quirkiness of the black dots would match up well with the design of the dress. I didn't do this in this instance because I had already constructed the all in one facing and messing with the shoulders would be a real pain. Lamazi Fabrics have a beautiful feed and advertised their sale, which included this grey melange knit fabric. The book starts with an easy tote-bag and progresses through increasingly difficult garments, describing each new sewing technique. In all honesty, this one is a little bit of an entirely self-induced mess and my shortening of the bodice makes it look, well, kind of weird.

The jersey is perhaps a little too thin for this pattern – a little more structure to hold things in might not go far astray for me. Definitely good to know for next time 🙂 Though I do like tracing since my paper is a lot more like pattern paper and I find it easier to pin than bond paper. For example, if they intentionally started to protect one or two mornings as “meeting free,” instead of accepting every calendar invite that came their way, they now had four to eight hours of focused work time. By being so open to breaking patterns and considering viable options, my clients, family, and I are also making ourselves more comfortable with iterating. But I reckon this is the lightest weight of fabric that can withstand the long invisible zipper in the back.The patterns work well for most shapes although I may skip the very closer fitting ones because I prefer loose styles.
