The FlyteFoam midsole provides good padding for longer runs, and the AsicsGrip outsole is great on varied terrain, from mud to rocks. However, note that I fit into narrow Salomons well, so this is definitely a shoe that will accommodate folks with regular to slightly wider feet or those concerned about splay and swelling associated with prolonged wear. It may not be a racing option for some, including myself, but the Trabuco 10 has definitely found its place as a staple in my trail shoe rotation as a great shuffler that is also capable of holding good pace on technical climbs and non-technical undulating trails.

Overpronation is when the foot and ankle roll inwards “too much’” – however, pronation is a natural and essential part of the running motion and there is no definite measure of how much is “too much”. So the Asics GEL-Trabuco 10 overpronation shoes did feel very comfortable and I after a fast parkrun and long run within 3 days of each other I have noticed that the pull up the back of my left calf muscle is noticeably reduced.

I thought of giving the Trabuco 10 a try after enjoying runs in the Fuji Trabuco Lyte, the predecessor of the Fuji Lite 2 . Equipped with a Duomax support system that creates a more stable ride, this placement of foam on the medial side of the midsole offers a firmer density that keeps the foot from rotating inward too much. However, despite the bouncy Flytefoam midsole they do also feel much stiffer than the majority of the trail shoes I’m used to wearing and after my 11 mile run in them my soles felt tired - more battered and bruised than usual at that distance and my knees felt fragile going up and downstairs when they are never usually like that.
