Description

This cheese has a truly unique flavour that’s best enjoyed on its own or with a Wooley’s of Arran Oatie. Please read our Privacy Statement for more information on our use and processing of your personal information.

The 10 year old bottling is the distillery’s flagship offering and was their first aged released back in 2006 (although it was subject to a new recipe in 2019). V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. If you’ve been around the American bourbon block, you will immediately recognize the nose of the Arran Quarter Cask.Bottling at natural Cask Strength without chill-filtration or artificial colouring of any sort presents this whisky in its purest form. Each sip of Arran whisky evokes the serene beauty of the Isle of Arran, delivering a harmonious and delightful experience. The nose has characteristic Arran notes of citrus and sweet spice, with vanilla and cinnamon emerging. Our packaging is eco-conscious: 100% recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable internal fittings made from recycled materials. Arran's The Bothy single malt has been so well received by whisky lovers it has joined the Island distillery's permanent range.

The great advantage of the quarter cask, of course, is that its generous internal surface area to volume ratio gives the whisky inside much more wood contact and influence in a short period. The Service has been prepared by us solely for information purposes to Members and the Service is based on information we consider reliable and we obtain the contents of the Service from a number of different third party sources (including Contributions), but we do not endorse, support, represent, warrant or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of the Services and any information therein. The 10 year old has a slightly bitter finish too which the Quarter Cask doesn’t, and I prefer the sweeter ending. The problem (and what a great problem) with having more expensive whiskies available on the supershelf, like the Arran 18 and 21, is that due to the expense, I only drink those when I’m feeling a bit special.Over the past 25 years, Master of Wine, Richard Kelley has become one of the most respected authorities on South African wine in the UK and beyond. I’ve been progressively working my way through the Bodega over the past seven or eight months, and each time I think I enjoy it, but am always left feeling a bit deflated. The closest companion to today’s whisky in question, is sort of a partner in crime and one that I again didn’t really hit off with: the cask strength Sherry Cask “Bodega”. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide to us in relation to your account, and for updating it where necessary. While I am am easily seduced by a sherry cask , my mood was for something a bit more spicy… a bit more hot.

Once commonly found in the 18th and 19th centuries for ease of transportation, the Quarter Cask is rarely seen today, yet its smaller size creates more contact between whisky and oak and results in a faster and more intense maturation. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose.

Arran The Bothy is burnished gold in colour, with Arran's signature citrus notes on the nose, complimented by the vanilla and cinnamon spice aromas of the American oak Quarter Casks. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law.

Made in reference to a time when the smaller casks of the 18th and 19th centuries were favoured on the Isle of Arran for logistical reasons, they quickly earned regard for the flavour profile they delivered. The generous ABV makes up for the no age statement (NAS is proving to be popular these days anyway) as there’s still some complexity revealed with water added. Am not an advocate of watering whisky but this really benefits the flavour and seems to make it more viscous and the flavour lingers long. uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. It has a spicy, tropical side and simple approachability that makes it a potent whisky experience for both newbies and oldbies alike. it definitely is improved by a little splash of water and some time resting in the glass but if you give it that you'll be rewarded with some really nice caramel notes on the nose and the same on the palate with a hint of sea salt. Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Not to say that the palate is sweet — it is — but it’s a bitter contrast to the overly sweet nose from earlier creating a wonderful blend of flavors.
