Her killer, Christopher Hampton, escaped justice for 30 years, but was eventually traced thanks to a DNA breakthrough. Lloyd Fouracre was walking home with friends along Gypsy Lane, Taunton after leaving another friend's 18th birthday party on September 25, 2005. Noreen O'Connor was acting as the nurse, housekeeper, secretary and companion for Marie Tarks and Frank Tiarks.

Despite police receiving 1,700 calls from the public, taking 1,600 statements and making more than 10 arrests, no-one has ever been charged with her murder. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of reading Julie Wassmer's debut, and the first book of this series, The Whitstable Pearl Mystery. So I was quite excited to read the second one and catch up with the lovely Pearl. After solving her first case as a private investigator on summer, she has been slowly building her business while still managing her restaurant. Rina Martin is a retired actress who had played a TV sleuth for years. Now living on Frantham-on-Sea, she has put all that behind her. She now runs a guest house. But when a brutal killer arrives in the sleepy town, and old Mrs Freer is murdered, Rina can't help herself from being drawn into the investigation. While Oxford had Morse, Whitstable, famous for its oysters, has Pearl . . . True to the tradition of classic crime, [Julie Wassmer] weaves a strong story into a setting that has more to offer than murder and mayhem’ Daily Mailexplores all the murder and debauchery in the seemingly perfect English seaside town of Whitstable…’ Washington Post

Thoroughly enjoyable with a host of wonderful characters – I adore Dolly! – and evocative descriptions of Whitstable. Perfect for foodies too. Pearl is great and the ongoing will they/won’t they love story with McGuire is compelling. Comforting, cosy and entertaining with excellent Agatha Christie-style reveals. I love these books!’ Jane Wenham-Jones, author of Mum in the Middle Pellow had consistently claimed the mother-of-three's injuries were self-inflicted but he was convicted of murder following a trial at Bristol Crown Court. A minor crime led to one of Hampton's daughters being added to the criminal DNA database - which flagged up a match with a full DNA profile the police had of Melanie's murderer.Joanna Yeates, an architect, was inside her flat in Bristol before Vincent Tabak, a neighbour, entered and strangled her. Murder on Sea by Jane A. Adams is the first book in the new Rina Martin Mystery series and I really enjoyed it. I found this book very enjoyable and hard to put down once I started to read it (and then forgot to do a review for it Sorry) Murder on Sea had lots of great twists and turns throughout and the killer took me by surprise. The characters were interesting and played their parts well in this book She put all that behind her when she moved to the sleepy town of Frantham-on-Sea. Here on the Dorset coast, she runs her own pin-neat guest house and life is blissfully quiet.
