so you know you’re going to love them and you know from this authors writing style that this book is going to have heart…. Four of her books are on my favorites shelf and I've never rated a book of hers below 4 stars before I read Point of Retreat in December 2016. It was so special you wanted to tuck it away in your heart and bring it out at a time when you needed to put that smile back on your face.

Layken and Will's love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances, and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. There's very little, if anything truly *new* about this book, and the material that is considered new? All those amazing reviews and ratings of Slammed series talk for themselves and This Girl is no exception. The addition of the scenes with Taylor was interesting at first because it led to that great scene at the hotel where Lake was baring her insecurities to him. Colleen Hoover really ties all the loose ends together and manages to wrap the story together in the most beautiful way possible. IF I TOOK every romantic poem, every book, every song, and every movie I’ve ever read, heard, or seen and extracted the breathtaking moments, somehow bottling them up, they would pale in comparison to this moment. I'm going to forget that ever went through this lovely boy's head because, seriously why are you asking me to hate you, Will?

As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. But he could not have anticipated that the exact opposite would occur and even more guilt and regret would be thrust upon him.Which was sweet, and I liked it for a while, but it just got too relentless for me to feel anything else but fatigue over that emotion (gasp! I know in these moments when it’s just her and me and nothing else, that she truly, soul-deep, loves me.

The perfect pan of basagna, the perfect glass of chocolate milk on the rocks - the perfect send off for my favorite book couple of all time. If I wanted to pick up reading "Slammed" again, I - among many other readers - probably would've had no qualms about doing so and letting Will's thoughts be left in mystery (part of the beauty of a piece of writing is letting some stuff be to the reader's imagination) - much of it is implied in the first book, it didn't need a retracing.Devour it, and then be sure to share that memory with someone else, because after all, memories are better when shared. Slammed, Point of Retreat and This Girl are the best you can get when it comes to YA/NA contemporary romance. I do not usually enjoy these alternate POVs because it feels a bit dangerous messing up with beloved characters. There are new scenes, added story lines, and even a epilogue that is guaranteed to make your heart squeeze. In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared and no memory forgotten, but Holder's past remains a mystery.

And for a perspective character, Will's narration is extremely whiny, lust heavy, and NOT an authentic male voice. There is something simply magical about reading a book that revisits characters you are already in love with. They were both left to take care of younger siblings, and become parents themselves long before they should have.
