Then I remembered, oh yes, that's because I smashed a pane of window in the door when I locked myself out, or asked a work colleague or neighbour to help me break in. Overall it’s a simple and concise book, filled with personal experiences that may or may not apply to you/your ADHD partner, but is a small step to reframing negative thoughts and hopefully steering people towards the help that they need! I would recommend this book for anyone with ADHD, with partner with ADHD but even friends/families and managers of people that just think differently (possibly undiagnosed ADHD).It just gives you another thing to forget to do, increasing the blame and frustration when you fail.

A 48-hour two-book pre-empt and many laughs later and we have a full dream team in place and the book has already landed its first week in the Sunday Times bestsellers chart. It’s a minefield – and often even people within one community can have really differing views on the language they personally prefer – but I think if you’re trying to be fair and sensible and understanding – then you’re on the right path. Self-publishing Dirty Laundry allowed us to get our message into people’s hands—that you cannot shame yourself into being someone that you like.In general the book seems to be more about explaining ADHD behaviour and ways to hopefully mitigate some of the every day challenges that, left unchecked, and lead to intense frustration. Not least of these are the supplies and materials for “House of Resin,” a company that she spent three weeks building after seeing someone making a beautiful wooden table inlaid with a waterfall made of blue resin.

Probably, I should mention that I don’t follow the authors on any social media, and I started this book without any prior knowledge of their background. Their main goal is to alleviate the shame that so many people living with ADHD can feel and to raise awareness of the condition. Richard Pink and his wife Roxanne Emery are often stopped in the street by fans of their social media accounts. This book is so simple in the way it's been broken down - I like that it has the ADHD side and the ADHD-support side of each topic. You can imagine that lady’s amusement – and Rox’s embarrassment – when she showed up at the desk four hours later, having missed the flight again. Being a fellow neurodivergent, this book rang a lot of bells with me, as well as helping me to not feel shame for not working to society's entrenched 'norms'. the main message still shines through, 'It's not our fault, it's our neuro divergent brains' which will help everyone who listens I'm sure. Pink and Emery reinforce the point that acceptance doesn't equal "no accountability" but rather realistic, practical strategizing.
