The novel also concerns Morgan's character growth, from being an insecure girl with no confidence, to a self-assured young woman, to one who temporarily battles mental illness. This is a risky film to make, and Disney gets points for having the guts to unleash this oddity on the holiday season. Fans of those stories and of Blyton and anybody who likes a good story will be captivated and it's just as magical and entertaining on its own terms.
